Thanks for visiting Bites to Beauty! My name is Shannon and I’m currently completing my undergraduate degree in biology. I’ve always had an interest in food and nutrition. During my third year, I decided to further delve into this passion by taking a second year food and nutrition course. This full year course advanced my knowledge in this area as well as debunked some of the common misconceptions that I previously had due to today’s media influences.

Growing up, I never paid much attention to the foods I was consuming and once I stopped swimming competitively, I consequently packed on the pounds. After my freshman weight gain, I took more interest in healthy living and nutrition. In doing so, I’ve been able to keep off 25 pounds over the years.

I constantly find myself reading up on ways to live a healthier lifestyle and sharing this information with friends and family. My friends now come to me for healthy tips, what to get at grocery stores, and advice. I’m glad I’ve been able to help friends and family be healthier and lose weight. This is something I’m truly passionate about. Subsequently, I’ve created this blog as an outlet to communicate my interest to readers, document my ongoing personal health journey, and share things I will pick up through studying Health Promotion and Wellness at a post-graduate level in the upcoming academic year.
